Short-term Fellowship, Trinity CollegeDublin

Trinity College Dublin has awarded a Short Term Visiting Research Fellowship to Dr. Christine Monikowski, Professor in the Department of ASL and Interpreting Education. This Fellowship is at the university’s Arts and Humanities Research Institute, the Trinity Long Room Hub, for June 11 – 25, 2016.

The Visiting Research Fellowship program is a competitive program offered each year and recipients must support one of the strategic aims of the Trinity Long Room Hub. During her Fellowship, Dr. Monikowski will collaborate with the Trinity Centre for Deaf Studies on the development of an international approach to sign language linguistics and also to begin documenting interpreter education programs in Europe, creating an online survey of known programs as well as discussion with the community of experts (from the European Forum of Sign Language Interpreters, EFSLI).

Trinity College Dublin was created by royal charter in 1592 and is Ireland’s highest ranked universities – and one of the world’s top 100. The Trinity Long Room Hub is the Arts and Humanities Research Institute and takes its name from the Old Library’s iconic “Long Room” (built between 1712 and 1732). It is also home to the Book of Kells, considered the world’s most famous medieval manuscript and Ireland’s greatest cultural treasure, a 9th century richly decorated copy of the four Gospels. More information on the current and past Fellowships can be found at: http://www.tcd.ie/trinitylongroomhub/fellowships/
