Galway day 3, what a day!!

We took a tour to the smallest Aran island (bus then boat) and then boat to the Cliffs of Moher (moe-err). Then up to the top of the Cliffs. The weather was spectacular!!! Blue blue sky and temps around 70--wow.

Once we got on the island we took a one-horse powered vehicle around the island. It was tough going for "Jack," so much so that we almost had to get out and push.

Along the route we stopped for a photo opp at a shipwreck from the 1960s.

The early people of the island built all these walls as they cleared the fields...miles and miles of walls.

We then took the ferry back visiting the Cliffs of Moher from sea level.

And after a quick lunch at Gus O'Conners for delicious seafood chowder, beef stew, and a couple of pints, it was off to the top of the cliffs. If you look closely, you can almost see Boston.

This last photo is of Chris sitting on the edge of the 700 ft. cliff.

Finally, after returning to Galway for a quick shower, it was out on the town for a quick (but late) dinner, a couple of pints, and more live music.

Second day in Galway

We walked to Salthill to the beach and got a great view of Galway Bay along the Promenade.

Then we came back and wandered around town. It is very pretty. In the background is the only surviving mill in Galway built in 1558.

And then, of course, there was music on our way back.

First day in Galway

Will write more soon. For now, check out our video (and turn up the volume). And who knew I've been pronouncing it incorrectly...it's GAWL-way not GAL-way.

Flying to Ireland

Chris and I made it to Dublin in fine shape -- especially me because (for the first time ever) I got to fly first class. Talk about "civilized" travel ... great food (see menu choice below), drinks, seats that recline into a bed, private tv screen, noise cancelling headphones, etc...

And this is my first photo of the Ireland landscape from the window of the jet.

We're here!

Arrived safe and sound. Lorraine picked us up and whisked us off to the lovely little town of Malahide for yummy coffee and scones by the sea.
