Saturday and the Isle of Skye

We arrived in Inverness last night and spent the night at a local B&B. I think we fell asleep as soon as our heads hit our pillows. This morning we woke up to an eclectic breakfast followed by a short trip back to the RR station to meet up with our tour group.

After a brief introduction we piled into the van and headed off to the Isle of Skye. It was a long trip (by Scottish standards) but very enjoyable. We made several stops, including one at Loch Ness -- and no, we did not see Nessie. 😟

We then stopped for lunch on the side of a castle (where a James Bond film was made).

After lunch we crossed the bridge taking us to the Isle of Skye.

And we even saw where Scottish salmon is farmed.

This afternoon we went on a 7-8 km walk up into one of the valleys made by glaciers. The valley was breathtaking. Unfortunately, the walk was cut a little short when it started to rain.

Nonetheless, we has a great ride and walk. Even our eagle-eyed Christine sighted a distant golden eagle. We stopped and took out binoculars to watch it soar almost over us and then out of sight. (Sorry, no pictures).

After finally getting to our Inn, we all sat down to a wonderful meal that included Scottish salmon, lamb, potatoes and vegetables, followed up with a delicious dessert. It was a long and fun day!
