Monday rain, it must be Dublin

Today Chris started her Fellowship at Trinity College Dublin while Rick spent most of the day riding around town on the tour bus.

And yes ... it rained on-and-off during the day. As the bus-driver said, "it's the rainy season in Ireland which starts on January 1st and goes to December 31st."

The following are some pictures of the city starting with:

the President of Ireland's (White) House located in Phoenix Park. Interestingly, you can see people walking on the grounds unlike our White House. (I guess this may be a benefit of being a "neutral" country.) The Irish have a very small volunteer army used solely for defense.

The next couple of photos are some interesting looking architecture (at least from my perspective):

I don't remember what this pyramid building is, but I thought it was kind of cool.

This one above is used as a theatre and music hall.

The can-shaped one is used for conventions and can hold several thousand people.

There are also a number of monuments scattered throughout the city, for example

this war memorial was the tallest obelisk in the world until the Washington Monument in WDC was erected. There is also a monument depicting the Great Potato Famine (the "Starving Time") that we traveled by:

Hopefully I will have more time to get a little closer to some of these places over the next week or so and have more photos and info for you.

Until then we hope you are enjoying the photos and narrative as much as we are enjoying our adventure.
