Saturday in Annascaul

We had a wonderful breakfast at our B&B then took off for Annascaul Lake, a 7 mile roundtrip hike. What fun! Lots and lots of sheep.

A beautiful spot...check out the video and turn up the volume so you can hear them:

And lucky for me, my boots are really waterproof--hurrah for Keens. After stepping in some serious mud, here is Chris cleaning up her boots (and her feet stayed dry):

Now ... nice and clean.

This tiny town has about 250 year-round residents and another 250 "blow ins" during the summer season. It's the home of Antarctic explorer Tom Crean.

This is a bank holiday 3-day weekend so it's a busy place, lots of folks from Dublin in the area on holiday.

Here's my total step count and my reward upon returning...it's difficult to choose between a Crean's 1835 and a Smithwick's but we stopped at the South Pole Inn for a pint so I went with the 1835.
