Saturday: Another Great Day

Today we got to spend the day together. We started it off with a great breakfast at the hotel and a walk to the Molly Malone statue to wait for our bus to take us on tour up in the Wicklow Mountains (south of Dublin city). We traveled on a small bus with only 16 people; we were the only Americans. We split up into two groups: one hiking (us) and one horseback riding (them). Once again we had great weather--look at that blue sky:

The views from the mountain tops were outstanding and the walk vigorous. That's the sea and Dublin in the distance.

After a 2 hour walk on an uneven mountain trail, it was time for a quick lunch and more adventures. It was up the mountain roads again to the Guinness family estate and where they are shooting the television series "Vikings." (All of the women, Chris included, were hoping to see "Ragnar" the Viking leader. No such luck.)

And a stop at the bridge that figured prominently in the movie "P.S. I Love You." (We never heard of it so we will have to catch it when we get back to the U.S.)

And...

The last stop on the road trip was to Glendalough, the valley of two lakes renowned for its Early Medieval monastic settlement founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century.

We ended the day with a couple of pints at Grogan's Castle Lounge and then on to a great meal at Cornucopia, the best vegetarian restaurant in town!
