A Day in Dingle

Today we spent the day in the lovely little town of Dingle. Our day started with a wonderful breakfast at our Inn. Our plans to town were dashed when we found out their "summer" bus schedule was not yet in effect and that we would have to wait more than 2 hrs for the next bus.

Fortunately for us a local store owner saw us waiting at the bus stop and came out of his shop to explain the problem. Our Innkeeper (Bryan) came to our rescue and offered us a ride into town. 5 stars for the Old Anchor Inn just for coming to our rescue.

The ride into town was gorgeous climbing the winding road and looking at the lush green fields. They look like an emerald green quilt.

The town of Dingle is a seaport town. The streets are lined with restaurants, touristie-shops, and pub-after-pub-after-pub. We stopped in a few of the tourist shops and took a walk across town to the Dingle Brewing Company where they make Tom Crean Irish Lager beer.

On our walk back to the main road we stopped for a great lunch of seafood chowder and a goat cheese, mushroom, and pesto open-faced sandwich on delicious brown bread. We followed that up with a scoop of locally made ice cream. Yum!

The following are some pictures of the town. Keep in mind that it IS a working seaport town. We watched a couple of fishermen fix their trawler nets as they prepare to go back out to sea for the next two weeks.

We then took the bus back to Annascaul for dinner at our Inn and an evening of "singing and celebration" at a local pub. And finally, a photo of twilight at 11 pm.
